Apotex Health Targets One Billion Dollar IPO

Apotex Health Corp., the generic drug giant backed by private equity firm SK Capital Partners, has filed for an initial public offering in Toronto that could raise up to 1 billion dollars, according to multiple reports. The deal would rank among the largest TSX listings in years and give public‑market investors exposure to Canada’s biggest generic drugmaker, which produces tens of billions of doses annually and sells into more than 70 countries.

Private Equity Looks to Cash In While Keeping Control

SK Capital, which acquired Apotex in 2023 in a transaction reportedly valued between 3 and 4 billion dollars, plans to sell only a minority stake in the IPO and retain control after the offering. RBC Capital Markets, Jefferies and TD Securities are leading the deal, which early reports suggest could value Apotex Health at around 10 billion dollars, reflecting its scale in generics and consumer health.

Investor Angle on the Apotex IPO

For investors, the Apotex Health IPO offers a chance to buy into a large, established generics platform at a time when new Canadian listings have been scarce. The key questions will center on valuation versus global peers, the growth outlook for generics and consumer health products, and how SK Capital balances ongoing leverage with its long‑term ownership stake.
