Swish! DRYWORLD Announces Partnership with Purdue Point Guard Braden Smith Ahead of Friday’s Gonzaga Matchup

As the March Madness tournament continues tomorrow, all eyes will be on the matchup between Purdue (1) and Gonzaga (5). However, today eyes are focused on DRYWORLD Brands, Inc.’s (IBGR) announcement of their partnership with Purdue point guard, Braden Smith. The one-year Name Image and Likeness (NIL) agreement establishes DRYWORLD as Smith’s official apparel brand and merchandise partner. Additionally, the recently inked deal includes a comprehensive merchandise collection and dedicated eCommerce support for fan merchandise sales.

The Boilermaker has had an impressive run during his basketball career, as he became the third freshman in Big Ten history to score at least 340 points with 150 assists and 140 rebounds in a season, joining the ranks of Magic Johnson and DeAngelo Russell. Known as the Maestro, due to his ability to conduct his team and influence gameplay, Smith has taken it a step further by securing an NIL deal, with a global brand.

The NIL market is worth an estimated $1Bn annually, according to Opendorse. Part of the NIL money being received by student-athletes comes from brand deals with men’s basketball players being the athletes making the most. Companies like DRYWORLD are pivoting to capitalize in the NIL arena by establishing themselves as a player who is helping athletes design and sell their own merchandise. This opportunistic approach by DRYWORLD proves the company’s ability to evolve its brand and adapt to new and upcoming markets.

As DRYWORLD and the Maestro continue to make buckets, investors may want to focus on how the nimble company can capitalize on future deals in either the NIL market or other emerging opportunities to grow its global brand.
