ChargePoint And Optimus Team Up To Build Fast‑Charging Backbone In The Southeast

ChargePoint Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CHPT) and Optimus Energy Solutions are partnering to roll out a new DC fast‑charging network across the Southeastern U.S., targeting busy corridors and everyday destinations where drivers actually need reliable, high‑speed charging. The initiative builds on Optimus’s role as a leading ChargePoint partner in the region and is meant to close the gap between rising EV adoption and still‑patchy fast‑charging infrastructure.

Who the partners are

ChargePoint operates one of the largest networked EV‑charging platforms in North America, spanning Level 2 and DC fast chargers used by businesses, fleet owners, cities, and retail sites. Optimus Energy Solutions is a Florida‑based general and electrical contractor focused on EV charging and solar; it’s a certified ChargePoint installer and “Signature Partner” with a track record of building, owning, and operating DC fast‑charging sites across Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and municipal hubs like Winter Park and Eustis.

What the new fast‑charging network will do

Under recent ChargePoint–Optimus collaborations, Optimus has already broken ground on multiple DC fast‑charging sites and taken over Duke Energy’s 52‑station fast‑charging network in South Carolina, migrating those chargers onto the ChargePoint network. The new partnership described in the release extends that playbook:

  • More DC fast sites along key travel routes and in underserved areas of the Southeast.
  • Chargers designed to be compatible with essentially all current EVs, including CCS and NACS connectors, via ChargePoint’s Omni Port hardware.
  • Long‑term operation and maintenance led by Optimus, with uptime and reliability treated as core metrics rather than afterthoughts.

In practical terms, this means drivers—from local commuters to long‑distance travelers and rideshare drivers—should see more dependable fast‑charging options at recognizable locations like retail centers, city mobility hubs, and restaurants, rather than only at scattered highway sites.

Why this matters for EV drivers and investors

For EV owners, the partnership is about confidence: more fast chargers, in more places, operated by a single experienced team and visible on the ChargePoint app and its roaming partners. That reduces “range anxiety” and makes EVs more practical in parts of the country that have lagged coastal regions on infrastructure.

For investors, the story is about ecosystem building. ChargePoint (CHPT) gets deeper penetration of its hardware and software in a region with fast‑growing EV adoption, while Optimus cements its role as a go‑to developer and operator of DC fast‑charging networks. As more chargers come online, both companies can benefit from hardware sales, recurring software and services revenue, and data‑driven insights into how EV drivers use the network.
