Critical Metals Corp. Begins Construction on Tanbreez Pilot Plant and Multi-Use Facilities in Greenland

Critical Metals Corp. (NASDAQ: CRML) has officially approved and commenced construction of its Tanbreez pilot plant and associated multi-use facilities in Greenland, marking a significant step toward commercializing one of the world’s largest rare earth element (REE) resources.

Moving From Planning to Execution

The company has now broken ground on the pilot plant, which will demonstrate and validate critical processing technologies for heavy and light rare earths extracted from the Tanbreez deposit. This facility — along with supporting infrastructure — is intended to prove scalable extraction and separation processes that are essential for future full-scale operations.

Construction activities have already begun at site, supported by engineered plans and long-lead procurements. Critical Metals expects construction and commissioning to progress through 2026, with pilot operations designed to generate material for downstream qualification and test campaigns with potential customers.

Strategic Importance in Rare Earth Supply Chains

Rare earth elements are key inputs for permanent magnets used in electric vehicles, wind turbines, electronics, and advanced defense systems. Heavy rare earths such as dysprosium and terbium are especially valuable for high-temperature magnet performance.

The Tanbreez project represents a strategic non-Chinese source of both light and heavy rare earths. Demonstrating pilot-scale processing capability is a critical de-risking step — one that could unlock commercial partnerships and off-take discussions as global demand for REEs continues to grow.

Enhancing Greenland’s Industrial Footprint

In addition to the pilot plant, Critical Metals is advancing multi-use facilities at the site that are designed to support workforce housing, logistics, and operational services. These elements are expected to improve local engagement, supply chain efficiency, and long-term project economics as the company scales toward potential commercial production.

Investor Implications

  • Operational Progress: Commencement of construction signals execution momentum after a long period of feasibility work and regulatory positioning.
  • Technology Validation: Pilot plant output will enable testing and qualification with customers, a key step toward securing commercial contracts.
  • Strategic Positioning: With few Western sources of both light and heavy rare earth elements, Tanbreez could play an important role in diversifying global supply chains.
  • Value Creation Pathway: Successful pilot results and pilot-to-commercial conversion could materially enhance project valuation and investor interest.

What’s Next

Over the coming months, Critical Metals plans to advance construction, complete detailed commissioning work, and begin pilot runs. Results from pilot operations — including separation efficiency, product quality, and throughput — are expected to drive engagement with potential customers, technology licensors, and strategic partners. These outputs will also inform design and cost models for the next stage toward a full commercial plant.
