Everspin, Teledyne HiRel Partner to Expand MRAM Use in Aerospace and Defense

Key Points
- Everspin Technologies and Teledyne HiRel Semiconductors, a Teledyne Technologies business unit, formed a partnership to expand MRAM adoption in aerospace, defense, and other high-reliability markets.
- Teledyne HiRel will initially add Everspin’s 256Mb PERSYST® STT-MRAM to its memory portfolio, with 64Mb and 128Mb versions also included in the agreement.
- The companies expect Teledyne HiRel to begin offering PERSYST MRAM products to customers in the fourth quarter of 2026.
- The partnership targets applications including avionics, radar, electronic warfare, satellite electronics, autonomous systems, VPX platforms, and single-board computers.
Everspin Technologies (Nasdaq: MRAM) and Teledyne HiRel Semiconductors (NYSE: TDY) have launched a partnership to accelerate the adoption of magnetoresistive random-access memory, or MRAM, in aerospace, defense, and other mission-critical electronics markets.
Teledyne HiRel, a business unit of Teledyne Technologies, will add Everspin’s PERSYST spin-transfer torque MRAM, or STT-MRAM, products to its high-reliability memory portfolio. The companies will initially focus on Everspin’s 256Mb PERSYST device, while the partnership also covers 64Mb and 128Mb products.
Teledyne HiRel Adds Everspin PERSYST MRAM
Everspin’s 256Mb PERSYST STT-MRAM is a non-volatile memory device designed to deliver RAM-like speed while retaining data when power is lost. The memory can preserve information through system resets, unexpected interruptions, and power outages.
Teledyne HiRel plans to offer the devices to military, aerospace, space, and other customers that require reliable components with long product lifecycles. The companies expect the products to support several high-performance applications, including:
- Avionics and flight-control systems
- VPX and single-board computer platforms
- Radar and electronic-warfare systems
- Satellite and space electronics
- Autonomous platforms
- Other defense and aerospace systems
MRAM Addresses Power-Loss and Endurance Requirements
Mission-critical systems often need memory that can write data frequently, withstand long operating lifecycles, and retain information after power interruptions. PERSYST MRAM aims to address those needs with high write endurance, fast access, and non-volatile data retention.
The technology may support functions such as system startup, configuration storage, event logging, and power-loss recovery. Unlike battery-backed memory, MRAM retains data without requiring a battery, hold-up power, or capacitor-backed protection.
In some applications, PERSYST MRAM may replace or supplement NOR flash. It may also reduce reliance on battery-backed SRAM, wear-leveling software, and dedicated data-protection circuitry. The specific configuration will depend on the customer’s system design and performance requirements.
Teledyne HiRel Provides Qualification Support
Teledyne HiRel will provide product guidance, screening services, qualification documentation, procurement support, and obsolescence management for the PERSYST MRAM portfolio.
This support addresses a major requirement for aerospace and defense customers. These programs often require documented component qualification, long-term supply visibility, and support through extended production and service cycles.
The partnership gives Teledyne HiRel customers access to Everspin’s persistent-memory technology through a supplier focused on high-reliability semiconductor solutions.
PERSYST MRAM Availability Begins in Q4 2026
Teledyne HiRel expects to begin offering Everspin PERSYST MRAM products in the fourth quarter of 2026. The company will ship the products from its Milpitas, California, facility.
For Everspin, the agreement could expand access to aerospace and defense design programs, where qualification requirements and product life cycles can create long sales timelines. For Teledyne HiRel, the partnership adds non-volatile memory options for customers building systems that must maintain data integrity during power loss and operate reliably in demanding environments.
The companies did not disclose financial terms, purchase commitments, design wins, customer orders, or expected revenue from the partnership.
